Edan y Eva – Pecador

I can’t believe it! Spring is almost here! It was 50 degrees today!
The last few weeks its been hard to get cigar smoking into my agenda. Last week I was coming down with a cold. I held it off with a regular dose of Zicam. By this past Sunday I was feeling pretty good, even with smoking an Onyx outside in 30 degree weather on Saturday night with light snow falling, it was beautiful.
I also decided to try out growing a beard. It’s been a interesting experience. When I was about 20 I grew a goatee. I kept it for a couple years until I decided to cut my long hair off, the goatee went with it. Now the beard is quite different and sometimes annoying to have. I find myself stroking my face a lot the last few weeks. I wonder if thats normal?
So to get back into the swing of reviews I went into my humidor to find something different. The cigar that jumped out was the Edan y Eva Pecador. I have never smoked a cigar like this before, i’ve seen them, but never tried it before. Basically its 3 cigars intertwined together to make one cigar smoking experience. The ones i’ve seen before have the same 3 cigars, but this line has 3 different wrapped cigars to make up the Pecador. The wrappers are the Maduro, Connecticut and Habano 2000.
It comes in it’s own coffin. When you open it up, the Pecador is in a plastic wrapper. The cigar is has 2 elegant bands tied around the head of the cigar and the foot. Its quite attractive. There is also an A&E band in the middle.
I removed the 2 bands and clipped each of the cigars at the head. I was able to light all 3 of the cigars with one match, though Elvis did find this to be a challenge. When trying to get a draw off of these cigar, it was a little difficult at first, but once the cigar got going, the head of the cigars seemed to mold to my mouth. To get this same feeling of this cigar, I would have you try sticking your forefinger, middle and ring finger together, put them in a triangular position and stick them in your mouth and take a drag. This is what is feels like to smoke this cigar.
It takes a few minutes to get used to this cigar. The cigar has a nice full flavor coming from it from the start. It started off smooth, but about an inch in, there was a slight bitterness to the taste. The look of the cigars burning is really unique. The ash lasted about an inch and half before all three started falling in lap.
As you can see, all 3 parts of the cigar burned even. Notice the sexy beard.
Now after the first ash, the cigar seems to just ash itself. It appears once it starts getting past that first turn in the cigar it was hard to keep the ash going.
The combination of all 3 cigars had a really nice flavor. The notes I could get out of it were leather with a nut flavor. In my opinion this is a full flavored smoked, there isn’t any spice or peppery notes, but the draw brings in a robust flavor.
This picture is right before the ash dropped. The band in the middle had to come off. This is where it gets challenging. You have to be very gentle in smoking a cigar like this otherwise you’ll be smoking 3 individual cigars.
As you look at this picture, once the ash made it past the top of the wrapper and made it past the final bend in the cigar, yea you were pretty much then smoking 3 cigars.
This is were I really enjoyed smoking this cigar. As you can see I was quite relaxed at this point. I see your quite turned on by the sexy beard. Please don’t send me your cigar love stories, Elvis already has my heart.
The cigars seemed to smoker slower once they were separated, but they still exhibited the flaky ash syndrome.
Overall this is a pretty good cigar taste and experience. I wouldn’t recommend smoking it when your with the buddies, just because it will take some concentration and effort to smoke it. This is one of the premium cigars in the Adan y Eva lines. I think it showcases their best 3 wrappers available.
Now for more viewing excitement of this cigar, check out Elvis and I at the Velvet Cigar Gallery .
FYI – The culaberas ARE 3 separate cigars that should be smoked individually.
You must be talking crazy! How could you not smoke all three at one time!
