Ashed Out…

I know loyal readers…you’ve been wondering where all the cigar reviews have been, especially after a Friday night where Ironmeden and I almost always post a review. Well, we are down and out. After a whirlwind tour of 6 cigar shops last weekend and after a pretty wild Havana Nights Cigar Club meeting on Tuesday, I think we plain overdid it. We both have been struck down with absolutely nasty colds. I haven’t been sick in over a year and I am getting totally crushed by this one. It’s going to be at least a week to 10 days before I even think about lighting up again. You know you’re sick when the mere thought of taking in a thick plume of smoke makes you ill.

Anyway, this whole scenario does present a good chance at a sidebar. I have a theory that I might have gotten whalloped so hard by a routine cold because I might have taken on a sort of cigar withdrawal at the same time. I had chills and body aches and headaches….felt like the the flu. And maybe it was. But could it also be that my body got so used to its nightly tobbacco intake that the onset of a cold was made ten times worse because it also meant I wasn’t smoking for the first night in a long time.

Has anyone else ever had a cigar withdrawal? I always thought that you couldn’t really get addicted to stogies since you don’t inhale them and because in my case, I only smoke them at night before bed…it’s not like I’m smoking them all day long.

But on the other hand, cigars are about as pure in your face tobbacco as you can get. They must have way more nicotine that a cigarette. Or don’t they?

I need your help weighing in on this one while I cleanse my system for a week or more of cigars and get over this horrible cold…….

Ironmeden and I will be back reviewing before you know it!

I haven’t been hit as hard as Elvis with this cold. I’ve been keeping it afar with Zycam. I think that stuff works pretty damn good. I’ve had a stuffy nose and some coughing but it never blew up into a full cold where I could miss work. In fact I went to a wine party at a friends house last night and there were 2 guys that wanted to buy cigars. So I went with them to the local liquor store and purchased some Onyx cigars. I used to smoke these cigars early on in my smoking career. We ended up smoking these outside in 30 degree weather with it lightly snowing. I don’t have any ill effects this morning. I feel better but I don’t think my palate can really review a cigar until late next week.
