CAO America

America….America….America F*ck Yeah!
Those are the lyrics to the very patriotic song America, F*ck Yeah! from the movie Team America. When I first heard that CAO was releasing this cigar named America, the first thing I thought of was the lyrics to this song.
If you see any changes to the blog today, I upgraded from Wordpress 2.0 to 2.3 today. I’ve been running the original software since I started the blog 2 years ago. I’ve been nervous for a while running that old software, so it was time.
Right off the bat, how can CAO name this America? Looking at the filler of this cigar, it has some Italian tobacco. Then it has some Nicaraguan and Dominican tobacco, then of course it has a Brazilian binder. Is this cigar comprised of tobacco that is left over from the Italia and Brazila lines? Does having just a Connecticut wrapper with some Connecticut filler make it a real American cigar?
This cigar on first appearance makes you want to sing the Star Spangled Banner. The band is simple and it resembles the layout of the Brazilia and Italia. Its a very patriotic band.
The wrapper is a Double Connecticut which one is a darker and is the majority of the wrapper with a thin lighter wrapper accenting it in a spiral. It gives it a barber shop pole look.
As I cut and lit the cigar, Neil Diamond’s Coming to America hummed in the back of the mind. I took my first puffs, it was a very bold cigar at the start. I got some coffee flavor and some nutty notes.
The coffee flavor lasted until about the 1/2 way point where it then smoothed out in flavor. So far through the cigar the taste was quite different then any CAO i’ve had before.
The last half of the cigar was quite mellow. It still had the bold/full flavor but it was not over powering.
I liked this cigar, but I may have to smoke a few more to get a definite feel of this cigar.
